Posted: Updated:

SEQUATCHIE COUNTY (WRCB)-- Channel 3 has learned the hunter, missing in Sequatchie County has died.

Family members say search crews found 51-year-old David Layne Sunday on Daus Mountain.

His cousin tells Channel 3 he was pronounced dead shortly after 4:00 p.m. She says his ATV was spotted behind a big rock two miles down the road from the command post, and an additional two miles deep in the woods.

The Grundy County man was hunting Thursday, when he crashed his four wheeler. That's when his family says he called stating he was trapped beneath the ATV and badly hurt.

No one had seen or heard from him since.

His cousin says this is a very difficult time for the family, as they are still coming to grips with the tragedy.

The family would like to thank the search crews and volunteers who worked tirelessly to find their loved one.
