Passerby credited for reporting East Ridge house fire

EAST RIDGE, HAMILTON COUNTY (WRCB) – A passerby is credited with spotting a house fire and calling firefighters.

Firefighters say the passerby noticed smoke coming from the home at 1123 John Ross Road around 10:00 a.m. Friday and called 911.

When fire crews arrived at the scene, they found heavy smoke and flames coming from the home.

Firefighters say no one was in the home at the time of the fire. They say they forced their way into the home and quickly got the blaze under control.

East Ridge Fire/Arson Investigators responded to the scene and are working to find the cause and origin of the fire. The fire is believed to have started in a bedroom.

Foul play is not believed to be a factor. Damage is estimated at $50,000.
