CHATTANOOGA (WRCB) - Police have arrested a man in connection with a May homicide.

Investigators say 18-year-old Antonio Dejong Espey was arrested Thursday morning after a grand jury indicted him in the homicide of 53-year-old Herbert Strickland.

Chattanooga Police fugitive investigators along with the Hamilton County Sheriff's Office and the US Marshalls arrested Espey without incident at 3501 Dayton Boulevard in Red Bank.

On May 19th, 53-year old Herbert Strickland was gunned down inside the Big-K convenience store on Dodson Avenue.

Eyewitnesses said he was shielding someone from the gunman, and was shot in the head. Strickland was the father of Chattanooga's first murder victim of the year, Meco Siler.

Strickland's death was the 11th homicide in Chattanooga in 2011.

Espey has been charged with first degree murder.

Investigators say despite the arrest, the investigation is still on-going.
