Posted: Updated:

UPDATE: Consider this a Crime Stoppers success story!  On Wednesday, we told you about three suspects, caught on camera, robbing a church in Red Bank.  By late Thursday evening, thanks to a tip to the Crime Stoppers hotline, police tell us all three were taken into custody.  Now charged are: Michael Axmacher (2 counts of Burglary, Theft over $500, and Theft over $1000), Ronald Wilkey, Jr. (Burglary and Theft over $500), and a juvenile (Burglary and Theft over $500).

In an email to Channel 3, Dan Knight of the Red Bank Police force said, "This shows how the cooperation between the Media and Law Enforcement working together can help keep or streets safer."

RED BANK, Tenn. (WRCB-TV) - Blame the economy, blame bad raising, but this time the crooks have hit a house of worship. "Back in May, we had another burglary at the same church," said Red Bank Police Detective Michael Ray. And again, they got away with a flat screen TV and a Blu-ray player. This time, though, the church, the authorities and now you get a good look at their faces.

Surveillance cameras were mounted in the Red Bank Cumberland Presbyterian Church just about three weeks prior to the break-in. That happened just after 1AM on Wednesday, August 31st. Three guys, thought to be in their late teens or early twenties, entered the Morrison Springs Road church. The first one into camera range carried a tool. "You can see him when he comes into the video that he has a crowbar in his hand.," explained the detective.

In their light colored hoodies and ball caps, they did not look like seasoned cat burglars. They also did not count on infrared cameras getting this clear a picture in the pitch-black darkness. As a matter of fact, they did not even know they were being recorded until they had broken into an office. Sharing the video, Detective Ray said, "The guy in the hoodie realizes 'Hey, we see a camera.'"

He also spotted the second camera on the way out. If a they will rob a church, there is no telling what crime will be next. Do not let Cumberland Pres get hit again. Have another look at the eyes, the faces and especially the clothing... like the lead kid's low-riding 'jorts.'

"One of the distinct factors is his shorts," Ray said. "He's got some design on the pockets of the shorts. Kinda looks like a face of some sort."

If you know who these crooks are, we need your help. Call Crime Stoppers at 698-3333 and remember: NO ONE, not even the police will know it was you who provided the tip. You could earn yourself up to a thousand dollars in cash.
