Chattanooga library to charge Hamilton Co residents

Posted: Updated:

CHATTANOOGA (WRCB) – Out-of-towners will soon have to pay to use the Downtown library.

It's now a city-run facility because the long-running sales tax agreement with the county expired.

The new library board voted to charge non-city residents $50 a year for library cards.

That fee will start when your current card expires, and will last for three years.

Non-city residents can still use the library for free as a research facility.

But it will cost to check out books, videos and other materials.
