Dragging suspect arrested in Dalton

DALTON, WHITFIELD COUNTY (WRCB) – A man accused of dragging a Dalton police officer is now behind bars.

Police acted on a tip and picked up Delvin Williams at a friend's house, early Tuesday morning.

Over the weekend, an officer was trying to arrest him for DUI.

The two had pulled over at a gas station and the deputy says Williams failed a field sobriety test.

As he was trying to cuff him, the suspect ran to his car and took off, with the deputy hanging onto the car.

That deputy was dragged and suffered a broken leg.
