Officials: 3 dead, 75 injured in air race crash

RENO, Nev. (AP) - A vintage World War II-era fighter plane plunged into the grandstands Friday during a popular annual air show outside Reno, Nev., killing at least three people and injuring roughly 75.

It created a horrific scene of body parts and smoking debris.

The plane spiraled suddenly out of control and appeared to disintegrate upon impact.

Bloodied bodies were spread across the area as people tended to the victims and ambulances rushed to the scene.

A spokeswoman for the Regional Emergency Medical Service Authority said 25 people were critically injured and another 25 people were seriously hurt in the crash.

She said more than 25 more people were treated for minor injuries.
