CLEVELAND (WRCB) - Wednesday marks exactly three years since the disappearance of an elderly man in Bradley County.

73-year-old Donnie Lee Payne was last seen by his family on September 14, 2008 on Lowery Street. They were unable to get an answer on his phone. He was at an apartment complex dumpster searching for soda cans. Family members say he would go out and recycle in his spare time.

His family says Payne usually wears dark colored dress pants with a flannel shirt. He is:

  • 5'10" tall
  • weighs 125 pounds
  • brown hair
  • brown eyes

The Criminal Investigations Division is seeking any information that could help locate Payne. You can contact Bradley County Sheriff's Office at (423) 728-7336

Payne's sister, Wilma Black tells Channel 3, "We would just like to find him and get closure for the family. It has been really hard."

Payne's niece Lisa Lehman wants people to come forward with even the smallest clue.

"Every single piece of information whether they think it is important or not is important," she said.

Payne's sisters say he was a quiet man, but loved by everyone that met him.

Sister Pam Boyles said, "Donnie was a very special person and he loved all his animals and people and everything."
