Fort Payne man jailed on child rape charges

DEKALB COUNTY, AL. (WRCB)—A Fort Payne man is behind bars on rape charges, accused of assaulting his friend's daughter.

Sheriff Jimmy Harris says 30-year-old Brandon Daniel faces charges of first degree rape and first degree sexual abuse for allegedly assaulting the 12-year-old daughter of a friend.

Sheriff Harris says the assaults occurred earlier this year.

Daniel is presently in jail awaiting bond.

In a news release to Channel 3 Sheriff Harris said, "This arrest is an example of the team successfully working together as one unit to fulfill its mission, which is to assist juvenile sexual and physical assault victims. We are fortunate to have so many capable agencies to participate in this team concept and are happy to be a part of it."
