Fire officials urge caution when burning

CHATTANOOGA (WRCB)-- Here in Tennessee, the Forestry Division is urging everyone to use caution when burning, especially here in Chattanooga.

The wildfire season doesn't start until mid-October, but officials say they've been battling fires left and right due to the hot and dry weather.

In addition to August being the driest month on record, the April tornadoes made matters worse, because there's still a lot of debris that's kindling the fires.

There is no burn ban in effect.

Officials also urge drivers to not throw cigarettes out their car windows. This could cause additional brush fires.
