TVA recognized as for achievement in economic development
CHATTANOOGA (WRCB) - The Tennessee Valley Authority is named one of the top 10 North American utilities for achievement in economic development for the sixth straight year in Site Selection magazine.
The publication recognizes TVA's work, in the fiscal year 2010, with local, regional and state partners in attracting and retaining more than 41,000 jobs and leverage $4.3 billion in capital investment for the seven-state TVA service territory.
John Bradley, TVA senior vice president of Economic Development says "Innovation, tenacity and teamwork are powerful keys to economic development success in our region. Distributors of TVA power, regional and state agencies, and economic, industrial and community leaders from throughout the TVA service region are all participants in this success. And the ultimate winners are Valley communities that have more opportunities to gain and retain jobs."
In 2010, TVA also expanded its successful Valley Investment Initiative program, which rewards qualifying power customers that make ongoing investments in the region.
The Site Selection rankings are based on a number of factors, including project activity, input from corporate end users and site consultants, website tools and data, and innovative programs and incentives for business.
