Lookouts to put playoff tickets on sale Tuesday

CHATTANOOGA (Lookouts) - With the Lookouts' magic number down to just two (one to force a one-game playoff) over Jackson in the overall standings, the Lookouts will be offering fans an early chance to purchase playoff tickets to the first potential home playoff game at AT&T Field against the Tennessee Smokies (North Division first-half winners) on Saturday, September 10th.

Tickets for the potential September 10th game will go on sale at 9 A.M. tomorrow (Tuesday, August 30th). The best-of-five series against the Smokies is scheduled to begin on Thursday, September 8th at Smokies Park.

The Lookouts currently hold a one-game lead over the Smokies in the second half. Based on two possible outcomes in the standings, there are two potential first-round playoff schedules between the Smokies and Lookouts.

Scenario #1: The Lookouts win the second half. The second-half winner (the Lookouts) play the first-half winner (the Smokies).

Game #1 (September 8th): @ Smokies Park
Game #2 (September 9th): @ Smokies Park
Game #3 (September 10th): @ AT&T Field
Game #4 (if necessary, September 11th): @ AT&T Field
Game #5 (if necessary, September 12th): @ AT&T Field

Scenario #2: The Smokies, who won the first half in the North Division, also win the second half of the North Division. In which case, their opponent is determined by the second best overall record (combined first and second half records). The Lookouts currently have the second best overall record in the North Division by six games over the Jackson Generals.

Game #1 (September 8th): @ Smokies Park
Game #2 (September 9th): @ Smokies Park
Game #3 (September 10th): @ AT&T Field
Game #4 (if necessary, September 11th): @ Smokies Park
Game #5 (if necessary, September 12th): @ Smokies Park

The Birmingham Barons and Mobile BayBears will face each other in the Southern League South Division Playoffs. The winners of each Divisional Series will play each other in the Southern League Championship Series, which will also have a best-of-five format.

The Lookouts last appearance in the Southern League Playoffs was in 2006, where they were eliminated in the first round by the Huntsville Stars. Chattanooga last won a Southern League Championship in 1988.

The Chattanooga Lookouts continue on their current road trip by playing the Mobile BayBears tonight at 8:05 P.M. EST. The Lookouts begin their final regular season homestand on Thursday, September 1st against the Montgomery Biscuits.
