Sequatchie brush fire continues to burn

Posted: Updated:

DUNLAP, SEQUATCHIE COUNTY (WRCB) - Crews continue to battle a brush fire in Sequatchie County.

Hot spots remain throughout the county following a weekend blaze that scorched nearly 30 acres.

Investigators believe the blaze started after a camper lost control of a camp fire.

The Sequatchie fire is one of two wildfires that ignited over the weekend. The other, in Bradley County, was fueled by high winds and an abundance of debris remaining from the April tornadoes.

August is set to break the record as the driest month in the Tennessee Valley in recorded history. With less than a tenth of an inch of rain in the past month, and no rain expected anytime soon, Mother Nature is doing little to prevent future flare ups from happening.

Channel 3's Antwan Harris is with fire crews in Sequatchie County, and will have more on this story throughout the day.
