Dalton police search for men who robbed taxi driver

DALTON, WHITFIELD COUNTY, GA (WRCB) - The Dalton Police Department is asking for the public's help in identifying an eyewitness to an armed robbery.

Investigators say they need to find the man who was recorded on surveillance tape after the incident and may know the identity of the robbers,.

The incident happened at on August 14th in the area of 4th Avenue and Redwine Street.

A taxi driver reported that he picked up three men who asked to be taken to Park Place Apartments. When the cab stabbed at a stop sign one of the men pulled a knife on the driver. The man held the knife to the driver's throat and demanded money.

The driver gave the men $140 in cash before they got out of the vehicle and ran away.

Dalton officers responded to the scene but could not find the suspects.

The driver later reported seeing one of the suspects with another man on 5th Avenue. The man, not believed to be involved in the robbery, walked into a Mapco convenience store where he was caught on camera. Investigators say they would like to talk to man.

SUSPECT DESCRIPTION

The three suspects are described as being Hispanic and approximately 18 years old, with close cropped crew cut style hair cuts. The driver reported that two of the men were of average height, approximately 5'5 tall and the other was approximately 5'10 and skinny.
