State commissioner named chairman for tech group
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) - Bill Hagerty, commissioner of Tennessee Economic and Community Development, has been named chairman of the board for the Tennessee Technology Development Corp.
The group is a nonprofit organization created by the General Assembly to encourage science and technology business development in the state. It is designed to help ongoing business recruitment and expansion efforts of state and local officials.
Hagerty said he hopes to advance the state's global competitiveness. He succeeds Dr. Bill Evans, CEO of St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in Memphis.
