CHATTANOOGA (WRCB) – A Chattanooga man has been arrested after allegedly stealing more than $100,000 in items from the home of a dead man.

According to investigators, Ka-Cee Callahan contacted police after noticing that a number of items were missing from his recently deceased father's home.

Police say Ka-Cee immediately suspected that his father's house guest, Michael Stoker, had taken an unknown number of items from the home during the time that his father was ill in the hospital. Ka-Cee further stated that he'd obtained power of attorney over his father's estate following his passing and had gone to his father's home, only to find that several items including a Chrysler Town and Country Minivan, a Ford F-350 truck and several high-priced lawn and garden items were missing.

After the initial report, Police were able to locate Stoker who was found in possession of some of the stolen items which were valued at $40,000. Further investigation led police to Michael Stoker's mother's home where more items were recovered. Continued searches at various locations turned up even more items whose values totaled more than $80, 000.

Ka-Cee Callahan and family were able to get their father's two vehicles, washer and dryer and several lawn equipment items back as a result of the investigation.

"It's unknown exactly what all was taken which makes the recovery process that much more astounding," said Investigator William Puckett about the theft. "I'm still processing recovered items. This is a big case," Puckett said.

Other suspects including  Stoker's mother, Angela Stoker, were implicated in the theft and more charges may be coming as a result of continued investigation. As of right now, Ka-Cee Callahan can draw relief in the items recovered.
