KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (AP) - Tennessee got a little pep talk from a big-time former Volunteer at practice.
Former St. Louis Rams and Vols linebacker Leonard Little spoke to the team at practice on Monday about working hard. Coach Derek Dooley says the talk was needed because the Vols looked a little sluggish two days after their final fall scrimmage.
Dooley says the message from the Pro Bowler and All-American resonated with the team because of the success he's had in his career. Little helped lead Tennessee to the 1997 Southeastern Conference championship and was a part of the St. Louis Rams' Super Bowl champion team in 2000.
On the field, senior defensive tackle Malik Jackson returned to full-speed practice. Jackson sprained his right knee during the first week of fall camp.
"He was 100-percent, ripping and roaring," Dooley said. "It was great to see him back in the backfield."
