Varady wins August CBA Day Tournament

CHATTANOOGA (WRCB)-- Mark Varady, fishing by himself today caught a five-bass limit weighing 18.62 pounds to win first place and $2,000 in the Island Cove Outdoor Center August Open bass tournament.

Mark reported he primarily fished ledges on Chickamauga Lake in the morning and then locked through to Nickajack later in the day to catch a couple of his bigger fish.

The highest finishing Tow Boat US bonus went to the team of Greg Lamb and Mark Heatherly.

The highest finishing New Team Award went to the team of Barry Wingo and Kirk Grammar.

The highest finishing Youth Division Award went to the team of Jeff Todd and Jacob Todd. 

Rounding out the remaining top 8 places:

  • 2nd: Lamb and Mark Heatherly 17.86 lbs., $650
  • 3rd: Roy Dye and Drew Tompkins 17.86 lbs., $500
  • 4th: Greg Shaver and Daniel Morgan 17.16 lbs., $400
  • 5th: Josh Wofford and Tom Ledford 17.14 lbs., $300
  • 6th: Chuck James and Brad James 16.99 lbs., $250
  • 7th: Don Lamb and Eddie Wilson 16.20 lbs., $200
  • 8th: Gary Hutton and JP Biondo 15.82 lbs., $150

Big Fish Winners:
Victor Rowe and Brian Thacker – 5.45 lbs. Largemouth - $240
Jamie Hatcher and Rick Camp – 4.06 lbs. Smallmouth - $80
Steve Kite and Daniel Lewis – 2.38 lbs. Spotted bass - $80

    For the third straight year, Hamilton County School Board members have given their Superintendent an "above average" report card.
