ATHENS, Ga. (AP) - Georgia freshman tailback Isaiah Crowell participated in Friday's practice even though he still wore the green jersey reserved for injured players while he continues to recover from a strained groin.
Running backs coach Bryan McClendon says Crowell "did everything from A to Z" in the practice "and did well."
Crowell is expected to start in Georgia's Sept. 3 opener against Boise State. Another tailback, Richard Samuel, is recovering from a strained quadriceps.
McClendon says Crowell would "definitely" be ready if Georgia's opener was this week.
Offensive coordinator Mike Bobo says another top freshman, Malcolm Mitchell, is making a push to be one of the team's top three receivers.
Nose tackle John Jenkins left the practice with a mild left hamstring injury.
