DUNLAP, SEQUATCHIE COUNTY (WRCB) – A Tennessee preacher has been arrested on charges of sexual contact with an inmate.

Charles Rawlins, 63, of Dunlap, is charged with sexual contact with an inmate and coercion of a witness.

The incident happened at the Sequatchie County Jail, where he was volunteering with the prisoners.

According to the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation and the Sequatchie County Sheriff's Office began investigating allegations that Rawlins was having sex with inmates late last month.

The TBI says earlier this week Rawlins approached a witness in the investigation who said he felt threatened by a comment Rawlins made about the case against him.

Rawlins has been booked into the Sequatchie County Jail. He is being held without bond until a court appearance on August 19.
