OOLTEWAH, HAMILTON COUNTY, TN (WRCB) -- A new development that will combine shops, apartments, and a green area is in the works in Ooltewah.
Cambridge Square has been awarded an "urban general commercial" zoning designation from the Hamilton County Planning Commission. The Chattanooga City Council unanimously passed the plan, Tuesday night.
The site off Ooltewah-Georgetown Road, near the Honors Golf Course, is not much, but it's been prepared for building.
The projects lead designer says it will be the first of its kind outside of the downtown district.
The idea is to build an area where people can live work and play.
The first phase of building will be commercial office space and retail, with residential following.
