POLK COUNTY, TN. (WRCB)-- The Polk County Sheriff's Office is investigating an armed robbery at a bank in Delano.

The sheriff's office says the incident happened around noon Friday at the First Volunteer Bank on Bowater Road.

Police say the armed robber tried covering his face with a handkerchief as he demanded money from the teller. He fled with an undisclosed amount of cash.

The suspect is described as a male in his mid-20s. He weighed 170 pounds and was wore blue jeans, a dark long sleeve shirt and a ball cap. 

The FBI is assisting with the investigation.
