Cause of death determined in fatal boating accident

CHARLESTON, TN. (WRCB)-- Investigators have determined the cause of death for the woman killed in a boating accident Wednesday night.

TWRA spokesman Dan Hicks says 32-year-old Misty Thompson died as a result of blunt force trauma to the forehead.

Hicks says there's no evidence of foul play, but charges are still pending the results of blood-alcohol tests.

According to wildlife officers, their boat struck a concrete pillar, which provides access to the mooring cells barges are tied to while loading and unloading at the Bowater paper plant.

TWRA officers say they don't believe excessive speed was involved.  Nor do they think anyone was standing or doing anything out of the ordinary onboard.
