Civil rights intimidation case sent to grand jury

CHATTANOOGA (WRCB) –The case of three men charged with civil rights intimidation has been bound over to the grand jury.

Colton Partin, James D. Smiley and Kyle Montgomery all went before the judge last month.

The three were accused of driving in the areas of East 28th and 4th streets harassing African Americans standing nearby.

Police say the men threw fireworks and yelled racial slurs.

Smiley is a former EMT with Hamilton County Emergency Medical Services.
