UPDATE 2: Crews on scene of a fatal boating accident

CHARLESTON, BRADLEY COUNTY, TN (WRCB) -- Emergency crews are on scene of a fatal boating accident behind the Bowater plant.

According to Stan Clark, spokesperson for Bradley EMS, its on the Hiawasee River at the Charleston Boat Ramp.

Tennessee Wildlife Resource Agency Spokesperson Dan Hicks say that the boat struck a submerged pole. Hicks says a man and a woman were on the boat, the woman has died.

The man was not injured. Now the TWRA is interviewing him for clues.

Channel 3's crew on scene says the boat shows no visible signs of damage.

An innertube was tied to the back indicating this may have started as a day of fun on the Hiwassee river.

Officials also don't know who called 911.

The TWRA is working to notify the family of the victim. Her name has not been released.
