LIVELINES: HEALTHY EATING CALLS

Childhood obesity is a growing public health concern in the United States.  Studies show it's tripled over the last 30 years.  As you get your child ready for a new school year, what's in your child's lunchbox?   Experts say school lunches are an important factor in promoting healthy eating habits in children.    Nutritionist, Pamela Kelle was our guest.

She said one of the biggest mistakes parents make is putting too much food in their child's lunch. She went on to say even it you're on a budget, there are healthy options like cutting a whole wheat hot dog bun and putting a banana or peanut butter on it. She also talked about food like boiled eggs and cheese. Another important tip, make sure your kids help plan and fix their lunch, because they are more likely to eat it.
