Tenn. Small Game Seasons approaching

CHATTANOOGA (WRCB) - This year's Tennessee small game hunting season will begin on August 27th according to TWRA.

On August 27th 2011 the annual Tennessee Free Hunting Day will allow Tennessee residents to hunt any open season without the requirement of a hunting license or permit. All hunter education requirements will still apply on the Free Hunting Day.

2011 – 2012 Small Game Hunting Seasons:

  • Squirrel Aug. 27 - Feb. 29 (Limit 10)
  • Grouse Oct. 8 - Feb. 29 (Limit 3)
  • Rabbit Nov. 5 - Feb. 29 (Limit 5)
  • Quail Nov. 5 - Jan. 31 (Limit 6)
  • Dove Sept. 1 - Sept. 26 (Limit 15)
  • Oct. 8 - Oct. 23 (Limit 15)
  • Dec. 19 - Jan. 15 (Limit 15)
  • Canada goose Sept. 1 - Sept. 15 (Limit 5)
  • Wood duck/Teal Sept. 10 - Sept. 14 (Limit 4 - Not to exceed 2 wood ducks)
