UPDATE 3: 7-year-old drowns near the Blue Hole
HAMILTON COUNTY, TN. (WRCB)-- Rescue crews responded to a swimming area in Soddy Daisy after a 7-year-old boy drowned.
Hamilton County dispatch says the boy was found in the Blue Hole at Pocket Wilderness just after 4:00 Friday afternoon.
A steady rain pounded the North Chickamauga Creek, while emergency responders retrieved the body of a seven-year-old boy.
Family members identify him as Tyler Gamble.
He was swimming with his father's fiance near the popular blue hole, a spot area residents know all too well.
"It's swimming spot, some high cliffs that you can jump off of. I've only done it once and that was enough for me," says Timothy Morgan.
Morgan watched from his front porch, as an ambulance drove out of the gorge with its lights off.
He says this isn't the first time, a swimmer has died here.
"I know there's been other people over the years to drown up there, but for a child to die," says Morgan. "That's really bad."
Tyler's father tells Channel 3 he isn't sure how his son drowned.
Park Rangers were close by when the woman he was with called 911 but Tyler couldn't be revived.
Tyler gamble's body was taken to the medical examiner. Officials say an autopsy is standard procedure.
Additional details will be released when Park Rangers complete their investigation.
