LIVELINES: PET CALLS

Most people would be happy to live out their lives never having to see a tick. However dog owners need to be aware of the potential for their pets to acquire ticks and getting a serious tick borne disease.

Dr. Jim Hammon from Northgate Animal Hospital was our guest this morning.

He gave the following tips and advice when it comes to ticks.

Preventing and Treating Ticks

-more than 850 species worldwide, but about 12 in our area

-ticks often harbor disease

-use year round tick prevention

-new tick products

    The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety has tested 16 new booster seats for 2017, all but 3 have earned the agency's highest rating of "best bet." 

    The "best bet" rating means a booster provides a good safety belt fit for a typical 4 to 8 year old child in almost any car, minivan or SUV.
