CHATTANOOG A (WRCB) - Communities across the country are taking a stand against crime tonight.

This is the 28th year for the event.                                                                                

Several local communities, including Chattanooga and Cleveland, take part.

National Night Out is a way for community groups to team up with police to raise awareness about crime and drug prevention, and send a message to criminals that neighborhoods are organized and fighting back.

Last year, more than 37 million people participated in the National Night Out.
