Two Way Immersion program going strong at Brown Academy

CHATTANOOGA (WRCB) - Hamilton County teachers are preparing for the school year, which begins next week!

We visited Brown Academy Monday afternoon and learned about their Two Way Immersion program.

The program is taught in kindergarten through second grade. In these classes, both American and German students learn for half of the day in German, and the other half of the day in English.

This is the second year for the program, and teachers say the first year went really well.

Tammy Geipel, teacher, "We had such phenomenal results. We had parents that were just floored, couldn't believe what their kids were able to do at the end of the year. And it's just really fun to watch the American kids raise their hands, listening to questions asked in German."

Students register Wednesday and then return one week later on the 10th.
