CHATTANOOGA (WRCB)—A man faces arson charges after police say he tried setting fire to a home on Glenwood Drive.

Police Sergeant Jerri Weary says back in March, an argument between the victim's daughter and 24-year-old Kenneth Moore ended with Moore attempting to set her home on fire.

The resident told police she and her daughter observed Moore return to the home following the dispute, place a couch to the rear of the house with a bag of garbage and sparked the fire.

The victim was able to extinguish the flames before the home caught fire. At the time, the woman says two other adults and three small children were inside.

Police arrived to find the torched furniture and alerted arson investigators, who advised the suspect be charged with aggravated arson.

Weary says Moore contacted the victim's daughter from a restricted number while police were still at the scene, but wouldn't give up his location.

Moore was eventually arrested Sunday on charges of aggravated arson and two counts of theft of property.
