UPDATE 4: Firefighters battle blaze at Dallas Bay home

Posted: Updated:

DALLAS BAY, HAMILTON COUNTY (WRCB) - Fire crews found themselves battling a house fire in Dallas Bay Monday morning.

The Dallas Bay Volunteer Fire Department says the blaze at 1031 Ambrose Lane was reported around 10:15 am.

Neighbors tell Channel 3 they heard a loud "boom" before spotting flames and heavy smoke coming from the windows.

Due to the significant size of the fire and severe hot temperatures, Chief Marcus Fists, Dallas Bay VFD, requested a mutual aid response for additional manpower and apparatus. Red Bank Fire Department, Soddy Daisy Fire Department and Mowbray VFD responded to the fire scene.

Hamilton EMS Spokesperson Amy Maxwell says homeowner Elizabeth Mayes and another retired woman live at the residence, but weren't home during the fire. A dog behind the house was saved.

No injuries were reported, but the home is considered a loss.

The cause of the fire is undetermined and will be under investigation by the Hamilton County Sheriff's Office. The house is a total loss and valued at $130,000.
