Fire damages Rivermont home, 20+ animals rescued
CHATTANOOGA (WRCB) – Fire investigators are trying to determine what caused a blaze at a Rivermont home.
Chattanooga Fire was called to 715 Mauldeth Road with reports of smoke coming from the home.
Firefighters were able to contain the fire to one bedroom.
Battalion Chief Rick Sewell said firefighters had to pull several dogs and about 20 cats from the home. McKamey Animal Center need several trucks to remove the animals from the scene.
No one was home at the time of the fire.
Lieutenant Henry McElvain with the Fire Investigation Division said the cause of the fire appears to be accidental, though what exactly sparked the blaze remains under investigation.
Damage to the home is estimated at approximately $20,000.
