UPDATE 5: Officials identify missing boater, search still on

SALE CREEK, HAMILTON COUNTY (WRCB) – Rescue crews are continuing their search for a missing boater.

Rescue crews spent most of Thursday searching the waters of Sale Creek for 59-year-old Martin King.

Investigators say King and his father, Ed King, were fishing around 2:00 p.m., near the Highway 60 Bridge.

One of the men jumped into the water for a swim and had trouble. The other jumped in to help.

Ed King resurfaced and was able to make it to shore with help, but Martin King has not been seen since.

Search crews tell Channel 3 that this is now a recovery mission because too much time has passed since the incident occurred, which greatly reduced the chance of survival.

Rescuers on the scene say the Ed King was not injured.

Ten or more boats, from five agencies, were combing the waters using sonar to determine a dive area.  Officials with the TWRA say the lake is about 40 feet deep in this area.

Crews had to call off the search for King's body around 9:00 p.m. because of the dark.
