Near record heat possible in TN Valley

CHATTANOOGA (WRCB) – As broad high pressure remains over the Tennessee Valley, high temperatures will climb to near record levels the next couple days in the low elevations. Humidity will also increase, producing dangerous heat index values of 100-105 degrees for a few hours each afternoon. Some chances for rain return late-week.

Please stay safe! Here are some tips:

- Take extra precautions if you work or spend time outside.
- When possible, reschedule strenuous activities to early morning or evening.
- Wear light weight and loose fitting clothing when possible and drink plenty of water.
- Check up on relatives and neighbors.
- Absolutely do not leave children or pets unattended in vehicles! 
- To reduce risk during outdoor work the Occupational Safety and Health Administration recommends scheduling frequent rest breaks in shaded or air conditioned environments.
- Anyone overcome by heat should be moved to a cool and shaded location.
- Heat stroke is an emergency...CALL 911.
