Truck crashes on Ochs Highway

CHATTANOOGA (WRCB) – Two people are in the hospital after a truck loses its brakes on Ochs Highway, sending the vehicle careening down the mountainside.

Chattanooga Police say 28-year-old James Walling was hauling sheetrock down Lookout Mountain when he lost the brakes in his truck shortly before 11:00 a.m. Officers say the truck went over a guard rail and partially down the mountainside, entrapping Walling and his passenger.

"They're both lucky to be alive," says Investigator David Huggins from the CPD Traffic Division.

Officers say both Walling and his passenger were taken to a local hospital with what appear to be non-life-threatening injuries.

Investigators say charges are pending the outcome of the investigation.
