Temps could reach 100 today

Posted: Updated:

CHATTANOOGA (WRCB) - A great day to head to the lake…river…bathtub filled with ice.

Highs today will be near 100 degrees.

If you want a silver lining, the humidity will be SLIGHTLY lower than it has been but still the heat index will be between 100 and 105 during the afternoon hours.

We will have lots of sun today and tomorrow with no real chance of rain until Friday afternoon.

Friday into the weekend we will see a few scattered showers and storms with highs in the mid-90s.

Please stay safe! Here are some tips:

- Take extra precautions if you work or spend time outside.
- When possible, reschedule strenuous activities to early morning or evening.
- Wear light weight and loose fitting clothing when possible and drink plenty of water.
- Check up on relatives and neighbors.
- Absolutely do not leave children or pets unattended in vehicles!
- To reduce risk during outdoor work the Occupational Safety and Health Administration recommends scheduling frequent rest breaks in shaded or air conditioned environments.
- Anyone overcome by heat should be moved to a cool and shaded location.
- Heat stroke is an emergency...CALL 911.

We have several ways to keep you informed. You can track pop-up showers and zoom right to your neighborhood on the iRadar.

(WRCB) - Good Saturday. While we have seen a few light sprinkles this morning, the bulk of the rain stayed east and south of the area, and I think that will continue to be the case. For the rest of the day we can expect mostly cloudy skies with a high today of 74. We will see our winds increasing behind the front to 10-20 mph from the northeast.Tonight, the winds die down, and we will see some clearing heading through the overnight.More

Parts of the area remain under Frost Advisories and Freeze Warnings. I don't think we are looking at any widespread problems this morning, but patchy areas of frost are certainly possible, especially in the Blue Ridge.More
