CHATTANOOGA (WRCB)-- You can now get behind the wheel of the new Chattanooga-made Volkswagen Passat.
Test drives began Friday nationwide. Two Passats are available for a test-drive in the Scenic City.
And the local Volkswagen lot is buzzing with drivers wanting to take a spin.
"We hardly ever shut them off, keep them running because of people stepping in line to test drive," says Greg Pope, Sales Manager at Village Volkswagen of Chattanooga.
Pope says customers are embracing the homegrown car.
The Volkswagen assembly line increased production, adding 50 units to the 100 already rolling off the line each day.
The 2012 Passat is expected to hit car lots later this year. The goal is to sell one million Passats by 2018.
As the Holiday weekend begins this Thursday, here are some road closures you need to know about.
