Crime Stoppers: Apartment burglary

Posted: Updated:

CHATTANOOGA (WRCB) -- Police say residential burglaries are common, that's why they have advice for us all.

Police have surveillance pictures of a man wanted for questioning in an apartment break-in and they want this guy off the street before he strikes again.

"I'm just hoping maybe someone will recognize or call us so we can look into it," says Officer Nathan Hartwig with Chattanooga Police Department.

Police say the man caught on tape, lurking in the parking lot of an apartment complex, was up to no good.

"He pried the screen...entered either with an unlocked door or with a key, we're not sure," says Officer Hartwig.

Officer Hartwig says the man on the screen walked into an apartment at the Commons Apartment complex on Hickory Valley Road, on June 14th, and walked out with a slew of electronics.

"They're easy to see on the street so big screen tv's...laptops ipods, game systems," says Hartwig.

Investigators have advice for others, to protect your self from thieves.

"I encourage people to write down the make, model, the social and keep it somewhere else other than the lap top," says Hartwig.

This may not be his only target.

"If he did this he may have done other sin the past and this could tie him to others," says Hartwig.

Police say if this thug hasn't hit before, they still want to make sure he doesn't get another shot at it.

"Someone else becomes a victim, you never know if someone was in there, you never know the pressure he could be under...he could hurt somebody," says Hartwig.

No one saw a getaway car. If you have any information or recognize the man, pick up the phone and call Crime Stoppers at 698-3333. It's a confidential call and could earn you a cash reward.
