Commercial touting Chattanooga wins national award
CHATTANOOGA (WRCB) - It may be the best commercial you have never seen. A commercial, filmed and produced in Chattanooga, has won a national ADDY Award. The Chattanooga Area Convention & Visitors Bureau is using the ad to attract visitors.
The commercial appears in Atlanta, Birmingham, Huntsville, Knoxville, and Nashville markets. Those cities are targeted by the CVB.
The ad appears to be working. According to a news release shared with Channel 3 Eyewitness News, hotel/motel tax revenue is up 17% since the ad campaign began.
"We know people love the commercial," said Bob Doak, President and CEO of the CVB.
"Our research tells us recall of the ad is very high, and it is driving traffic to our website chattanoogafun.com."
The television commercial is described as using "tilt-shift" photography that turns Chattanooga into "playful dioramas." Riverboats are meant to look like toys and people move like animations.
Other organizations to win a national award include McDonald's, Kia, and Allstate. The Chattanooga-based ad agency, The Johnson Group, developed the campaign. Chattanooga-based Atomic Films produced the video.
