Law enforcement agencies compete in national challenge

CHATTANOOGA (WRCB) – Local law enforcement agencies competed in the 2011 National Law Enforcement Challenge.

The Challenge is a friendly competition between similar sizes and types of law enforcement agencies that recognizes and rewards the best overall traffic safety programs in the United States.

Benton, Tennessee Police won third place in the category of Municipal with one to ten sworn officers, there were 42 teams in the category.

Dalton, Georgia Police won third in Municipal with 76 to 100 sworn officers, there were 26 applicants.

In the State Police-Highway Patrol with 501-1000 sworn officers, Georgia State Patrol won first and Tennessee Highway Patrol won second.

The competition is sponsored by the International Association of Chiefs of Police.
