Posted: Updated:

MENTONE, DEKALB COUNTY, AL (WRCB) -- The Lookout Mountain Drug Task Force team responded to a report that a pilot had spotted marijuana plants at a location on County Road 631 in Mentone, Tuesday.

The pilot also reported observing a white male come out of a house at the location and then run back in as the helicopters were flying over.

When the Task Force team arrived they saw at least 12 marijuana plants growing in pots in the yard, each approximately 4-6 feet high.   On the outskirts of the yard at the edge of the woods, agents discovered another 20 more plants in pots that had recently been fertilized.

Agents obtained a search warrant and made entry into the residence on the property.  Inside, hiding inside a bedroom closet, was Eddie Lee Plunk, age 50.

Also inside the residence was a small amount of marijuana and drug paraphernalia.

Plunk was arrested and charged with Unlawful Possession of Marijuana 2nd Degree and Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.   He was transported to the DeKalb County Detention Center, and bonded out later that day on $3,000 total bond.

The charges on Mr. Plunk may possibly be upgraded to felony charges within the near future as investigation continues, and also due to other drug charges pending against him in Henagar.
