CHATTANOOGA (WRCB) – Police are investigating a morning robbery at the DuPont Community Credit Union and think the suspect could be responsible to several other bank heists.

Investigators say the suspect entered the bank at 4503 Hixson Pike around 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, produced a pistol and ordered everyone into the lobby.

Officers say the suspect then demanded the teller open the vault. When the teller told the suspect he couldn't open the vault, the suspect had the teller open the teller drawers.

After clearing out the teller drawers, police say the suspect forced everyone into a back office and fled.

The suspect is described as a black man, approximately 6'2" or 6'3" and weighing between 230 and 240 pounds. He was wearing a straw hat, khaki pants, a white button down shirt and had a surgical mask over his face.

Police say the description matches a suspect responsible for robbing a Hixson SunTrust in April and a Hixson Regions in May.

Chattanooga were able to tie those two robberies to the same suspect Tuesday.

Police urge anyone with information on this suspect to contact Chattanooga Police at 423-698-2525.
