Protest planned for Alabama's new immigration law

HUNTSVILLE, AL. (AP) - A protest is planned in Huntsville this weekend of Alabama's new statute on illegal immigration.

Organizers of the "Interfaith Rally And Prayer Walk" plan to protest Sunday night at Big Spring Park in downtown Huntsville. The group says it wants to bring attention to the new law, which they claim violates Christian principles and standards.

Prayer walk organizers told WHNT-TV that guidelines which criminalize providing housing and transportation assistance to illegal immigrants go against Biblical teaching.

Similar protests against the new law have already been held in other Alabama cities. Organizers say they don't have any idea as to how many people would come to the Huntsville rally.
