Washington, D.C.  (WRCB)– Representative Scott DesJarlais (TN-04) has cosponsored legislation that would provide temporary tax provisions and relief for families, businesses and local governments as they recover from the spring storms.

"This legislation will provide much needed assistance through tax relief to the victims of these tragedies as they seek to cope with the aftermath. While nothing can replace all that was lost, it is my hope that the Southeastern Disaster Tax Relief Act will help to ease some of the pain experienced by our friends and neighbors," said Representative DesJarlais.

This legislation consists of temporary tax provisions that were included in previous natural disaster responses.  The bill is fully funded by using federal fund that are not already claimed and it will not increase the federal debt.

The bill is also co-sponsored by Representatives from nine other states.
