DALTON (WRCB) - Dalton, Georgia was one of four cities in the state to begin putting parolees to work.
Now, that program is being expanded.
It allows parolees to do community service, like picking up trash or mowing the medians along state roadways, instead of going to prison.
Parolees are only eligible if they have committed a low-level violation of their supervision requirements.
Officials say the program saves money and keeps Georgia's roads looking well kept.
