Police investigate 8th shooting of holiday weekend

CHATTANOOGA (WRCB) – Police are investigating a shooting in the Hixson area.

A man called 911 shortly before noon and reported he had been shot.

The victim is identified as Timothy Hodges, by his brother.

Hodges' brother tells Eyewitness News that he using the ATM at the Bank of America on Hixson Pike when a man approached him, tried to rob him and shot him in the leg.

Hodges' brother says the victim drove from the scene to a home Saluda Street, where police and paramedics were able to meet up with the victim.

Police are searching Hodges' car for clues now. They say they question the victim's story about being robbed.

Hodges is being transported to Erlanger. Members of Hodges' family are headed to Erlanger with him.

No suspect information is immediately available.

Eyewitness News has a crew on the scene.

This is the eighth shooting in the Chattanooga area during the holiday weekend.
