Deputies: 4 arrested for burglarizing neighbors
CHATTANOOGA (WRCB) – Deputies arrested four people in connection with a string of robberies Thursday.
According the Sheriff's Office, deputies were called to 6492 Colt Lane on June 30, 2011 to investigate a reported home burglary. While talking with the victims, other victims arrived and told the deputies their home had also been burglarized.
The deputies say they found what appeared to be some stolen property behind a home next door to the victims.
Deputies say when the homeowners were contacted, a large amount of property was observed inside their residence. HCSO says one of the people in the home admitted to investigators that he had burglarized several homes in the area during the night.
Investigators say he also admitted to having narcotics inside the home. The residence was secured by law enforcement while a search warrant was obtained.
Deputies tell Eyewitness News property valued at approximately $10,000 was found inside the home and several owners arrived to claim their property.
Twenty-six-year-old Adam Lawson, 20-year-old Brett Cannon, 20-year-old Kelsey Belcher and an unnamed juvenile were arrested.
All four were booked on four counts of aggravated burglary, three counts of theft under $500, one count of theft over $500, criminal conspiracy, numerous drug charges - including marijuana, methamphetamine and several different controlled substances (pills) - and possession of drug paraphernalia.
A mugshot for Belcher was not immediately available. HCSO does not identify juvenile offenders.
The investigation is continuing and other charges are expected.
