CHATTANOOGA (WRCB)-  Sources have confirmed to Eyewitness News that Mike Compton will be appointed Chief of Staff for Hamilton County by Mayor Jim Coppinger on Thursday.

Compton would succeed Jeannine Alday, who retired earlier this month after 33 years of employment by the county.  The appointment would be in the form of a resolution, that is expected to be approved by County Commissioners.

Compton was Chief of Staff for Chattanooga Mayor Bob Corker from 2001 until 2005.  He has most recently served as Chief Administrative Officer of Walden Security in Chattanooga.

At the time of her retirement, Ms. Alday was paid an annual salary of $142,116.  A proposed salary for Compton has not yet been announced.

Prior to joining Walden Security, Mike Compton was vice president of Corker Group Inc. for more than 20 years, where he oversaw the acquisition and management of commercial real estate and investments including high-rise office buildings and retail shopping centers.  He also served as chief of staff for the City of Chattanooga, TN from 2001-2005. 

Compton attended Southeastern Louisiana University and the University of Southern California and attained a Certified Shopping Center Manager (CSM) designation from the International Council of Shopping Centers in 1984.
